What the books give you
Only in the books
The books give each sibling a full novel, from Daphne in book 1 to Gregory in book 8. Four Rokesby prequels sit alongside them, and the show has covered only half of the eight so far.
What the screen changes
The show airs Colin's book before Benedict's. Showrunner Chris Van Dusen used Queen Charlotte as a centerpiece for racial equality, straying from the novels, and season 4 renames Sophie Beckett as Sophie Baek.
Show differences (spoilers)
In the novel, Sophie leaves a glove at a 1815 masquerade ball, and two years later Benedict meets her again. Season 4 leaves out that two-year time skip.
